On
April 29 & 30, the Logan Jazz Bands A
& B, and the Logan Jazz Combo
performed at the University of Nevada Reno
Jazz Festival. The Reno Jazz Festival is
the largest event of its kind on the west
coast, featuring competitions among middle
school, high school and college ensembles
and clinics and concerts by well know jazz
artists.
The Logan ensembles all performed
on Friday. With scoring from 1 to 5 (1
being the highest), Logan Jazz Band B,
Logan Jazz Combo and Logan Jazz Band A
received scores of 2, 2, and 1,
respectively. Indeed, a very fine showing
by our jazz performers.
Saturday was spent relaxing and
taking in the various performances and
clinics at the festival. The group
returned home on Sunday
afternoon.

Yes,
it's true. For the 9th consecutive time
the James Logan World Class Winter
Guard has won the Gold Medal at
the Winter Guard International World
Championships held in Dayton Ohio. The
students performed to a packed crowd in
the Dayton Arena! They had stiff
competition but in the end they came off
the floor undefeated.
Congratulations to the students,
staff and to our supportive Band &
Color Guard Boosters!
Thanks go out to Lori Valdes
and Liz Aguilar for heading
logistics of the program. We really
appreciate all your work! Couldn't do it
without you!!
Special thanks go to Mark
Metzger who took over as Director and
Choreographer. He did an amazing job and
we want to thank him for all that he
does!!!

The
Logan Percussion Ensemble performed at the
Central Valley Guard & Percussion
Circuit Championships on Saturday, April
1, 2006. As the only Scholastic World
marching unit at the competition, Logan,
performing their show, "Say Anything,"
based on the music of Frank Zappa, took
1st place with a score of 85.6. This was
the final performance of the percussion
ensemble for this
season.
Thanks to Mr. Oliver, Mr. Sears,
the technical staff and all the members of
the percussion ensemble for producing such
an entertaining show. Congratulations to
everyone on a fine season!
