The performance was held in the International Ballroom at the Chicago Hilton & Towers. All the hard work and long hours of rehearsal paid off as the Wind Symphony sounded their best ever. Mr. Barrera was beaming! The hour long program included the following works:
A reception followed the performance where congratulations were in abundance. The Wind Symphony enjoyed a free day in Chicago on Friday and then returned home on Saturday, 12/20/03. The Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference, in Chicago, Illinois, is the most prestigious event of its kind in the world. The Logan Wind Symphony is one of only 5 high school wind ensembles in the United States accepted to perform at this event and the only one from California since 1956. In Chicago, they shared the stage with such groups as the Birmingham Symphonic Winds from England and the United States Army Band. This is truly a high honor for the Logan Wind Symphony and the entire music program at James Logan High School. [Midwest Clinic Web Site] |
