Dress Code and Code of
Conduct
This festival is not
like other festivals. The atmosphere is one of respect for
all aspects of the festival, including one another, the
music, the facilities, the performers, and so on. It is
required that students dress appropriately throughout the
weekend. This includes the following: for boys: dress
clothes, (no tennis shoes, no jeans), and should include
shirt and tie or dress sweater or turtleneck, and for
girls: dress clothes, (no tennis shoes, no jeans). It is
expected that the directors will enforce this code and
express the importance of it to the students. Additionally,
the behavior expectations include individual control of loud
talking, inappropriate language, proper audience
participation and proper manners considering the atmosphere
of the hotel and performance facilities.
Each room will have a
courtesy bar. This bar will be locked and sealed. However,
it is important to remind your students that this bar is
"off limits". Additionally, each room will have one or two
bath robes. Be sure to remind your students that these robes
are for their use but should remain in the room upon
departure. Each room is also supplied with a courtesy snack
tray. WBA has requested that the snack trays be removed from
the student rooms; however, this request could be over
looked by the hotel staff. In any event, it is important to
remind you that those snacks are VERY expensive and should
not be consumed. Any damage to the hotel room or items taken
from the snack tray, or any missing article from the room
will be charge to the school whose students occupied the
room.
Festival Passes and Other Items of
Interest
Each Student, Chaperone
and Director will be issued a festival pass. Each pass will
be required for all meals, master classes, and concerts.
Parents who wish to attend any one or all of these events
must purchase a festival pass. Festival passes will be
available in the Cerritos Room of the Westin Hotel. Festival
Passes will cost $15 per person. Meals, including the
banquet can be purchased as well. Prices for these meals
vary and may be purchased before the event in the Cerritos
Room of the Westin Hotel.
Audience
Times
Each school ensemble is
assigned "audience time". Part of what makes this festival
unique is that for each performance there is an audience of
people who care. Please be early for your assigned times so
that performances are not interrupted. Under no
circumstances should your ensemble miss its assigned
audience time. Please plan departure times to the
performance venue carefully.
