Dear Mr. Barrera:

The American Composers Forum is pleased to inform you that we have selected the film footage of your 2003 Midwest Clinic performances of Grandmother Song (Davids) and Alligator Alley (Daugherty) to be included as part of our BandQuest Series. The Midwest Clinic and Mark Custom Recording Services highly recommended the recording of your performances and have granted us permission to include the clips as part of our CDROM introduction of these works. As a courtesy, we wanted to inform you of our decision. As you may know, one of the missions of the BandQuest series is to develop multimedia CDROM (and web-based) curricula for each work. The curricula are being designed to assist teachers with resources and to provide students with specific music exercises and materials with a rich context to garner a deeper understanding of the works they study.

Each disc is an enormous undertaking with multiple contributors and volunteers who come together to ensure the quality of each curriculum. The clip of your ensemble will provide professional performance examples of Grandmother Song and Alligator Alley for students and teachers. We are nearly complete with the development of the Grandmother Song CDROM. Once the final version is completed, we will forward complimentary discs to you just prior to distribution. Pending funding, educational materials for Alligator Alley will be completed by approximately 2006.

Congratulations to you and your students on your fine work. We are very fortunate to be able to include The Midwest Clinic performances as part of our educational series. Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. I look forward to sending you the discs later this fall semester.

Sincerely,

Dr. Krystal Prime Banfield
