EBSL Rule Change concerning the elimination of the COMP Swimmer designation for all EBSL teams.

At the January 2003 EBSL meeting, the Board of Directors voted in favor of changing the EBSL Rules & Regulations, on a trial basis, for the 2003 swim season. At the September 2003 EBSL meeting, the Board of Directors voted to extend these rule changes for one more season (2004). At the January 2005 EBSL Board meeting, the Board of Directors voted in favor of changing the EBSL Rules & Regulations, on a permanent basis. The following is a summary of these changes. [See full EBSL Rules & Regulations]

EBSL Rule Change Summary

  1. A team is not limited to the number of swimmers they shall have during the dual meet season.

  2. THERE WILL BE NO COMP SWIMMERS DURING THE SEASON.

  3. All swimmers are eligible to score points for all events they participate in. The amount of events a swimmer can participate in will remain the same (up to 3 individual, 4 total) and team scoring will remain the same (2 relay/event, 3 individual/team per event).

  4. Preliminary roster turn-in dates will remain the same.

  5. Final roster turn-in will be the same. After that date, no new swimmers may be added to a team unless a team has less than 100 swimmers.

  6. Championship rosters (disks) will contain the names of the 100 swimmers per team that will participate at Championships and will be due two weeks before championships as they are now.

  7. Because all swimmers are eligible for Championships until 2 weeks before the event, changes will only be made to final rosters because of major injury or death.

  8. In order to be eligible for Championships, a swimmer must swim in 3 regular League meets during the season.

  9. Teams would set their own rules for who participates at Championships based on current EBSL eligibility rules.

  10. Home team would still be able to limit the number of participants from the away team to 100.
