Club Pool Rebuilt!

Flyer
Our
volunteers spent many weekends this past
summer in the huge effort needed to
jackhammer off the entire interior
surface, carry debris away in five-gallon
buckets, install new electrical/plumbing
and pour new concrete decks
(see
photos).
Whatever couldn't be done by volunteers,
got done by the many generous donations,
as well as through fundraising events held
by our members. But all of that is done,
and our pool is now better than ever, able
to serve our community for the next 50
years. Come by or wait for our Open
House in May to see the completely
rebuilt, pristine pool!
After
all that effort, we've decided to stay
open for an extended swim season this
year. We're
planning adult and child swim lessons,
competitive swim clinics, and many other
new programs to serve our community. A
membership
in our swim
club
can once again offer your children a
chance to attend family-friendly events
close to home, as well as provide your
entire family with a fun way to
exercise.
Membership
also entitles your family to reduced swim
lesson fees, the opportunity for your
children to join the Southgate
Penguins Swim
Team,
and the chance to rent
the pool for private
parties.
The club also has a gated shallow pool for
tots, a large brick BBQ, picnic tables,
ping-pong table, snack bar, volleyball and
a spacious lawn area with loungers for
enjoying the sun.
The
Southgate Swim Club is a community
tradition that goes back to the early
1960s. Operating as a nonprofit
corporation with a lot of volunteer help,
the swim club has provided the Southgate
neighborhood with over 50 years of
recreational sport and social
opportunities for our area youth and their
families (read Club
History).

The
Southgate Swim
Team
was formed in 1965 to give the club
swimmers an opportunity to participate in
competitive swimming with other youth in
the East Bay. But we believe the
sportsmanship and skills that our children
build on this team are even more
important. We are planning programs to
develop kids' swim skills, beat their own
best times, practice good sportsmanship
and teamwork, and most of all, HAVE
FUN!!!"
